03 / THE EVERYDAY RITUAL
A LITTLE
KNOW-HOW.
A GOOD MATE.
You can start with the traditional gourd, or use the brewing tools already in your kitchen.
Read the complete guide ↗Make room for the water.
The traditional way starts with a sloping bed of yerba and a little patience.
01. Fill & tilt
Fill about two-thirds with yerba. Cover, gently shake and tilt to one side.
02. Moisten
Add warm water to the lower side. Then place the bombilla in that space.
03. Pour slowly
Pour water at about 167°F (75°C) near the bombilla. Refill as you sip.
167°F is the brewing temperature. Let the drink cool to a comfortable temperature before sipping. Keep the bombilla in place rather than stirring.
Your favorite mug works, too.
Use a roomy fine-mesh infuser so the leaves can expand. Start with a small spoonful, pour hot water over it and taste after a few minutes. Remove the infuser when the flavor suits you.
A little fine material may pass through the mesh. A paper filter can help if you prefer a clearer cup.
Make mate without a gourd ↗A pot for a slower morning.
A French press gives loose leaves room to steep. Add yerba, pour in hot water, then taste as it brews. Press gently and pour the drink out when you like the strength, rather than leaving it on the leaves.
Use less yerba or a shorter steep for a lighter cup. Rinse the filter well after use.

04 / OUR ROOTS
AN ARGENTINE
ORIGINAL.
Our story begins with yerba mate from northeastern Argentina. Careful harvesting, leaf selection and aging are part of the process behind a familiar red-and-white bag.
Tradicional uses larger leaves with a low-dust cut. The everyday pleasure is simple: prepare it your way, and take another moment over your next pour.

YOUR FIRST MATE.
WITHOUT THE
GUESSWORK.
What goes in the gourd? Where does the bombilla sit? Start with the basics, then learn how to adjust the flavor, keep your tools clean and store the next bag.
Open the brewing guide ↗What is yerba mate?
Yerba mate is made from the leaves of Ilex paraguariensis. Our traditional loose blend includes leaves and stems. Brew it in a mate gourd with a bombilla, or strain it using a tea infuser or French press.
What does con palo mean?
Con palo means with stems. The traditional cut combines leaf pieces, stems and finer particles. It is a style of yerba mate, rather than a flavor added to the leaf.
Do I need a special cup?
A gourd and a filtering straw called a bombilla are the traditional setup. A roomy tea infuser or French press also works. Cups, straws and thermoses shown in serving photographs are not included with the yerba packs.
How hot should the brewing water be?
Our preparation method uses water at about 167°F (75°C). Avoid pouring boiling water directly over the yerba. This is a brewing temperature: allow your drink to cool to a comfortable temperature before sipping.
Which pack should I choose?
Start with a 500 g bag if you want a smaller amount. The 1 kg bag suits a regular routine. Multipacks contain separate bags of the same traditional blend, so compare the bag count and total weight before choosing.
